Vote a climate-first party in the next election

Voting is one of the most effective (climate) actions for people in democracies and it's super simple too. Climate-focused parties will try to renew the economy into a low-carbon, sustainable and just world for everyone! Sometimes it can feel that these parties want to "take something away" from people. The truth is, they follow the scientific consensus and try to find ways to avoid the worst effects of climate change (which will derail the global economy and life as we know it if we don't act). When you look closely, many of the sustainable alternatives needed for a sustainable and just world like electric cars, great public transport everywhere, long-distance high-speed trains, heat pumps or even bike friendly cities will improve the life for everyone. Just and fair also means that these changes are made step by step and with low income households and rural areas in mind. They will most likely get more support. Please use your political voice to bring about a sustainable and just world.

Why Voting for Climate Action Is So Effective

In short

Voting for parties and politicians who prioritize climate action is one of the most powerful levers for systemic change. It shapes the laws, subsidies, and policies that determine whether we phase out fossil fuels, support renewables, transform agriculture, and hold big polluters accountable. Individual lifestyle changes matter—but structural change only happens through political power.

1. Policy Drives the Biggest Emissions Reductions

The fastest and most large-scale emissions cuts come from government policies: carbon pricing, fossil fuel bans, renewable energy mandates, transport investment, and agricultural reform. These decisions are made by elected officials. If we don’t vote for climate leadership, we delay every solution we urgently need.

2. It Determines Where Public Money Goes

Governments spend trillions—on energy, farming, transport, housing. Right now, far too much of that still goes to fossil fuel subsidies, highway expansion, and industrial agriculture. Voting for climate-aligned leaders ensures public funds are redirected to climate solutions: renewables, nature restoration, green jobs, and climate adaptation.

3. It’s the Most Scalable Form of Influence

Your vote is amplified by how governments set national and international climate targets, allocate funding, and negotiate at global summits. Climate policy at the top unlocks change across the economy. One vote might seem small—but elections shape the future of entire systems.

4. It Holds Polluters Accountable

Without political pressure, major polluters—like oil companies, fast fashion brands, or industrial meat producers—continue business as usual. Voting for parties that support regulation, taxation of emissions, and environmental justice puts polluters under scrutiny and forces corporate change.

5. It’s a Counter to Climate Delay Tactics

Fossil fuel companies and climate-denying politicians have spent decades spreading misinformation and weakening environmental protections. Voting is how we fight back. It’s how we say: we want a liveable future, and we won’t let vested interests hold us back.

6. It Builds Political Momentum and Public Support

When more people vote for climate, it signals to media, institutions, and future candidates that climate is a winning issue. That encourages more ambitious policies and builds a culture of accountability. Voting is a public, collective act—and that matters.

Final Note on What to Look for

Not all “green” parties are equal. Look for platforms that support fossil fuel phase-out, climate justice, support for renewables, plant-based transitions, circular economy, and strong climate finance. And don’t stop at voting—stay politically active between elections through petitions, campaigns, and community action.
