About Commown
Commown is a cooperative for sustainable electronics founded in 2017 in Strasbourg, France, and they are committed to promoting sustainable resource management, specifically in the field of electronics, hardware, and software. They offer products in the form of a rental system with all desired services included, where they take care of all repairs and support needs that go beyond the manufacturer's warranty. This includes help with configuration, repairs, replacement for defects, battery replacement, screen protection, software and hardware support, and more. This offer is aimed at both B2B and B2C customers, and at the beginning of the month, they expanded their DACH offer to include modular computers. Commown's cooperative project is driven by a team that believes that modern society can gradually become more sustainable and ethical. The change must therefore come from within existing modernity and not fight against it. They believe that responsible electronics can be a central part of this dynamic. This change can only come from a global reflection. That is why they also support a different consumption pattern that is focused on use instead of ownership. Similar rental offers already exist for devices from large manufacturers (Apple, Samsung, etc.), and they are very successful: the concept is becoming a trend. However, Commown's philosophy differs significantly from that of other providers: they believe that the fleet of rented devices should be a common good, rather than benefiting only a few.
